First let’s take a moment to talk about layers. Like those old movie projectors that can change the image from one slide to the next, layers allow you to overlay images or parts of images on top of one another to create complicated but beautiful images.

Photoshop layers enable the creation of a very large number of images that can be combined with one another to create one. When working on a project, you save only the results of the project. Saving only the final image means that when you start editing the next time, the saved image will begin with the same state that you left it in on the last edit session. So you may be editing a number of images simultaneously, all saved on the same disk. And when you finish your last image, you can just open the next one and carry on.

Photoshop layers make it very easy to go back and edit an image. Unlike JPEG images, the layers don’t get lost with the change of a single pixel. For example, if you accidentally click a point on a photo to change a color, you can edit the photo without losing the color attributes of that point and undo that edit so that you can change it back to the original color.

You can import your own files into Photoshop. For example, if you open a PDF file, that file is automatically loaded as a layer. To load other file types into Photoshop, open a folder or folder window (Windows) or an Explorer window (Mac) and navigate to the folder you want to load into Photoshop. Then click the file you want to load. Photoshop then imports that file into a new layer.

In many programs, you can import an image into the program as a background image that you can work on. However, Photoshop is different from most other programs. In Photoshop, you can only import an image file as a true layer. After importing a file, you can add it to a layer palette, but you can’t work with it on its own outside the layer palette.

Another way to work on files is to use _Smart Object_ files. These files format themselves in layers. To save a file as a Smart Object, click File, and then click Save for Web & Devices (Windows) or Save for Web & Devices (Mac). Click the image you want to save as a Smart Object, and then on the Image tab, click the Smart Object button. From this dialog box, you can save the file as a Smart Object with all its layers. If you click

Aperture One goes free

Adobe is discontinuing it’s subscription app, Aperture. In a short blog post, Adobe describes the changes as

«It’s been an incredible journey for the team and us to deliver a product and service that has been a faithful companion to our RAW workflow. It’s been a long time coming, but we have no choice but to let it go. We love Aperture, we love the concept and we love the team, and we want them to build the product they have to be proud of.

So, Aperture will continue to exist as a subscription product. As of Dec. 31, we will begin shutting down all of the third-party sync services. We will not be releasing the monthly subscription to anyone. We won’t be generating a bill for anyone until Dec. 31.

On Jan. 1, 2018, we will have discontinued Aperture in all of our applications, in both Mac and Windows. The Aperture product team can continue to operate their application. If someone has an Aperture subscription currently active, we will continue to support that subscription until March 31, 2018.»

The full Apple release notes are below. Aperture for OS X, iOS and iCloud for Mac and iOS will end of service on March 31, 2018. Read our brief article or watch the brief Aperture for iOS/iPhone video here.

Neuroprotective effects of tocopherol, quercetin, flavonoids, astaxanthin and curcumin in experimental models of neurodegenerative disorders in the adult rat brain.
Protection against oxidative stress is a probable underlying mechanism of neuroprotection. There is increasing evidence from in vitro and in vivo models that neuroprotective compounds may have neuroprotective effects beyond their antioxidant properties. In this study we tested the neuroprotective effects of the antioxidants, tocopherol, quercetin, astaxanthin, curcumin and flavonoids against different experimental models of degenerative disorders of the rat brain. Male Wistar rats were treated with Cu2+ or thiamine to induce, respectively, a model of oxidative and a model of non-oxidative stress in the brain. The compounds were orally administered at different doses before and after the insult, and the behavioural outcome and histological/biochemical measurements were compared with those of the control group (0.9% NaCl) under the same conditions. Quercetin (50 and 100 mg/kg) and tocopherol (100 mg/kg) showed neuroprotective effects in the thiamine model. Quercetin and tocopherol also exhibited neuroprotective effects against the Cu2+ model. Curcumin and astaxanthin did not show any effects in either of the models. Flavonoids show in this study that they can protect the brain from oxidative and non-oxidative stress, although they are less potent than tocopherol or quercetin.Q:

It is possible to modify the size, rotation, and position of the stamp. You can also change the underlying pixels, which is sometimes necessary. It is possible to move the clone source anywhere on the image.
You can «stack» stamps to do very sophisticated effects and fixes.

Blur is a brush stroke that, once created, applies a blur effect to a specified area. The effect is scaled based on the brush width, so a brush stroke with a width of 5 pixels, for example, will apply a blur with a radius of 5 pixels. You can use this tool to soften or blur an image.
You can also use the Blur tool to blur away large objects in a photo or to blur portions of the page that have too much detail.

The Gradient tool provides you with a series of gradients that you can use to set the tone of an image. There are many different gradients available.

The Gradient Selection tool makes it easy to add large areas of solid color to an image. When you apply the gradient to the image, it is automatically scaled to provide a more accurate color match. To control the size of the gradient, you can use the Gradient Bar.
Gradients can also be used to represent a single color, a range of colors, or to produce a texture.

The Pen tool allows you to paint by using a brush on the image. You can use the Pen tool to create abstract art, lettering, doodles, and more. You can create lines, rings, and ovals by using the Pen tool.

The Puppet tool allows you to draw a three-dimensional figure on the screen. You can use the Puppet tool for perspective drawing or to create a figure or character.

The Vector tool allows you to draw simple, straight lines, circles, rectangles, and polygons.
You can use the Vector tool to outline areas in an image that you want to keep. Or you can use it to create textures.

The Hand tool allows you to draw with your mouse. You can use the Hand tool for creating freehand drawing, sketches, and art.
You can use the Hand tool to trace the edges of an image. You can also use the Hand tool to draw freehand. If you want to use a different color than you are currently using, simply change the Pen tool properties (Pen Color, Size, Stroke, and so on).

In addition to the tools that are
