Cablevision, the New York cable operator, has signed an agreement with Excelerate Labs, a New York software and cloud platform company, to use its technology to deliver interactive advertising, the first of its kind for cable operators. Excelerate Labs will be tasked with delivering desktoplike applications to specific cable customers using Internet Protocol (IP) and deploying the applications through Cablevision’s openaccess channel architecture.
The company also signed an agreement with Rialto Digital, a joint venture between Rialto Technologies, a European IPTV network equipment provider and Espresso Communications, a provider of IPTV systems and services and an affiliate of Israeli cable operator Bezeq. Rialto Digital will provide Cablevision with an openaccess technology platform to deploy multiscreen applications and IPTV/analog convergence solutions for the company’s customer base.
Analysts contend the New York market will be the first to benefit from the new interactive advertising, which leverages Internetbased technologies to deliver targeted advertisements with rich content over cable operators’ IP networks.
The deal with Excelerate Labs signals Cablevision is starting to embrace the new technology. Last month, the cable operator formed a new company called “WebLogic Communications” (WeLogic), which will bring together Cablevision, Excelerate Labs and other technology partners.
In January, Cablevision and Excelerate Labs announced a collaboration, in which Excelerate Labs will provide smart advertising solutions to help Cablevision customers reach target audiences by combining proprietary data and analytics from third party sources with thirdparty data to create a customtailored solution to show advertisements to each customer individually on their PCs, tablets or smartphones.
The collaboration will provide Advertine, a revolutionary new platform for deploying advertising over cable operators IP networks. Advertine is based on the integration of Excelerate Labs’ smart advertising technology platform with Cablevision’s openaccess channel architecture. Advertine will accelerate the deployment of innovative, scalable, interactive advertising solutions that take advantage of Cablevision’s IP network and Rialto’s open access solution.
