What’s New In PersonalFolder?

The PersonalFolder is an encrypted storage area that keeps user’s data private. The PersonalFolder User Key file is created while creating the PersonalFolder. This file contains the encryption key to encrypt the entire data within the PersonalFolder. After login the user would unlock the encrypted data by providing a password. Once unlocked the user can then write or read any data to/from the PersonalFolder.
After logout the user would not be able to open the PersonalFolder or even view the data in it. All data stored in the PersonalFolder cannot be accessed using Windows Explorer. All this is possible if you forgot your personal folder password or have lost the key files. Once you remember the password, go to the PersonalFolder and then you can view the data. Since the data is encrypted, you won’t be able to view the data directly. You will be asked to enter the password to view the data. The user can then change the password by providing the correct answers. But again, this could be a security breach if the user does not have a valid answer.
The PersonalFolder also lets the user create Recovery Folder to keep the user’s data confidential. This Recovery Folder is created when the password is first set and then the user can access the Recovery Folder by remembering the password to view the data. The password for the Recovery Folder is the same as the PersonalFolder User Key file. If the password is lost or forgotten, then the Recovery Folder can’t be used to view the data.
The PersonalFolder creates and keeps the encryption key guarded by the user’s password.
