When you open an image in Photoshop Elements, you see that it contains a title, white space, and some layers. You can get rid of these items by selecting Image → Adjustments → Reduce Noise. You may have to make adjustments to color, light and other elements to make your image appear more pleasing to you.

Tip: One of the best ways to quickly make changes to an image is to create a custom document on which you can make quick changes.

Photoshop Elements offers several ways to edit images.

First, there is the traditional way of using various tools and layers on a canvas to make adjustments. There are many ways to edit digital images, so in this tutorial, Photoshop Elements 13 will help you edit a photo using the tools and features available in the left-hand panel.

Next, you have the option to add various types of special effects on an image, and many of them are in the Filter menu.

In the last method, you can apply various filters on an image, and they are available in Filters ⇒ Apply Filters.

The ways to edit photos are as follows:

Edit photos through the left-hand panel.

Apply filters on an image.

Adjust the saturation of colors and contrast of an image.

Preserve the clarity of an image.

Modify the exposure, white balance and contrast of an image.

Add special effects to an image.

Multi-view Stereo From Videos Requires Exponential Search Space

Scientists have developed a new way to determine the depth of objects in a single video. The technique can determine the distance between any two nearby objects in the 3D scene.

The idea is based on the observation that, depending on the camera direction, objects close in the video appear differently on the left and right sides of the camera. If you can see the object to the left side of your eyes, but the computer is calculating its depth from the right, you’ll see it move closer to your eyes than it actually is. The technique was applied to find the disparity between the left and right views of a stereo image. By knowing how to reconstruct the disparity for each pixel of the image, the actual depth values can be determined.

The experiment was done using a laptop which equipped with a pair of HD cameras, one for each eye. If the laptop was not rotated, a single image will be enough to reconstruct the stereo perspective, and the positions of the objects will be accurate in 3D. Unfortunately, if the laptop is rotated (as it is usually done), both cameras see the scene from different angles and the resulting images will have shifted from one another, causing a camera error.

The solution is to rotate the laptop so that each camera sees the same angle on the screen, i.e. either the top or the bottom half. This way, the stereo images will have identical dimensions, and the disparity will be the same for both views.

How much time would this take? To complete the transformation with the amount of data acquired using conventional methods, it may take a few minutes. The authors of this study compared it to the ability to match similar faces across two views (approximately three frames). It was found that the technique was much faster and more accurate, but the experimental conditions were not the same. Nevertheless, it proves that this approach works well with even the minimal amount of data in images acquired using a hand-held device.

The technology is based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), which were originally applied in different areas of computer vision to learn feature representations that can identify and process objects and scenes in images. A major advantage of CNN is that, instead of trying to determine the exact position of each object, it allows to estimate the position using data from a small volume of pixels, and the accuracy of the estimate increases as more data are accumulated.

The technique described in this research paper seems to have a
