I’m struggling to think of ones at the moment.

Just that attitude that says «if I work hard enough I can get you to like me, but until then, here’s how I’ve been looking after me».

& I think that ‘accepting’ — or more maybe, ‘willing to’ — another’s intentions, can be a great thing, but there’s a lot of people that assume you mean something else by that & so they, er, waste a lot of time worrying & being angry & hurt.

& that inability to accept a comment or dare to ask a question is another thing. «I can see what you meant, but it was the wrong way of saying it.»

I think that attitude is also one that can take a person a little further than they might realise.

I work with a man who is A. an Aussie from Western Australia & B. has a heart of gold. He’s also with the Midland Construction company, & he thinks they’re all idiots!

BUT, he’s the sort of person who will help anyone & will find reasons to be understanding & will tell you that they think you’re doing the right thing. (Because they know it’s right, he just doesn’t want to be told to do it or told that the problem is someone else’s fault — instead of his own!)

He tells all sorts of stories about people who have been wronged or taken advantage of, but won’t go into details of his own dealings with companies.

He doesn’t let other people’s prejudices or insecurities cloud his judgement of people.

And he has kept the same attitude to everything — always wants things to work & is positive & trying for every
