It is therefore necessary to adopt preventive measures within the affected countries, including the phasing-out of DDT for indoor residual spraying and the provision of sustainable alternatives to DDT in disease vector control. WHO, UNICEF and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Ministry of Health (Côte d’Ivoire), are currently implementing a programme to provide sustainable control options for malaria control (see [www.unicef.org/malaria](

6. Conclusions

Given the lack of evidence of human-to-mosquito transmission in Africa \[[@B19-ijerph-09-01490]\] and the known vector role of *Anopheles* spp, the diagnostic tools in this article should in principle be available in all African countries with the exception of Eritrea. The currently used diagnostic tools cover most transmission scenarios but lack specificity. They therefore can be used for malaria elimination, but not for malaria case management. Conclusive evidence on the efficiency of new tools in controlled conditions can only be obtained by conducting further studies in African settings. To increase the efficacy of interventions in malaria vector control, it is recommended to integrate the diagnosis of insecticide resistance into the control strategy, in close cooperation with the National Malaria Control Programme.

Orofacial pain: diagnosis and management.
Orofacial pain (OFP) is an emerging clinical problem. The true incidence and prevalence of OFP is difficult to determine because of differing diagnostic criteria, different studies defining the various clinical entities, and different outcome measures used for evaluating treatment responses. Research over the past 3 years has increased our knowledge of the diagnosis and management of various types of OFP. For some OFP conditions, such as temporomandibular disorder, we now have a better understanding of the underlying pathophysiology and rationale for different treatment modalities. For other types of OFP, such as trigeminal neuralgia and atypical facial pain, there are still many unanswered questions. Nevertheless, this past year’s research has yielded important new information to increase our knowledge and understanding of these problems, including their diagnostic criteria, underlying pathophysiology, potential management approaches, and their evaluation with outcome measures. With increased understanding, a more targeted therapy for various types of OFP should emerge.Q:

When and how should I use a semi-colon to separate two items in a double-colon form?

I am working through some AP Calculus homework and came across the following line:

I tried to do the problem the way it was presented in the solution manual but ended up with a semi-colon before the first $5$ and a semi-colon before the second $-$ and a missing $-x$ after the second $-$. It seems like the second $-$ should not have been there and I should have been using a semi-colon after the $5$ and a semi-colon after the $-$.
First of all, is this a correct approach? If so, how should I have divided the problem by hand?
Also, what are the rules for using semi-colons to separate an item from two other items when dealing with double-colon forms?

The style of a solution manual is very different from a textbook, and the two differ dramatically. A textbook will often have blank lines between numbered steps, or a more uniform structure. Solution manuals will often not separate the steps at all; in that example, your solution is correct.
There are many ways to write a correctly typed solution, depending on the circumstances. The teacher should specify a solution. In this case, it is
